The event which was held on the 13th of September, 2018 at the Akin Deko Auditorium had in attendance the VC, DVC Administration, DVC Academics, DVC Ekenwan Campus, Rep of the bursar, the Liberian, Provosts, Deans, Directors, Past Uniben VC, Past CMD UBTH, Royal Fathers, Chiefs from Igueben, Family, Friends, Relatives, Staffs, Students and others too numerous to mention.
The event kicked off with the Register introducing the VC’s entourage who in turn called on the VC to introduce the lecturer of the day. He noted that it is the 60th in his tenure, 18th in Physical Science and 8th in the department of Chemistry. Prof. Esther was born on the 10th of April, 1964. She is the first female in Chemistry and in the Faculty of Physical Science to obtain the position of a Professor. She is happily married and blessed with four children.
She started her Lecture by giving a brief breakdown on the definitions of chemistry, material chemistry and material science. She noted that she is among the scientists that made the research that Rubber seed oil in Nigeria is as good as those imported. She also made known that Nano materials can be seen in our everyday life in the likes of electricity. She went further to give some observations of Nano chemistry like in the treatment of cancer, camouflaging of military uniforms, biotechnology and a host of others. The event thereafter ended with the lecturer being decorated by the VC amidst her immediate family.
