“CREATING MAKERS OF REALITY IN NIGERIAN HIGHER EDUCATION THROUGH PARADIGM TRANSITION LEARNING”
The event which was held on the 4th of October, 2018, at the Akin-Deko Auditorium had in attendance the DVC Administration who represented the VC, DVC Academics, DVC Ekenwan Campus, the Register, the Bursar, the Libarian, Provosts, Deans and Directors, staffs, Students, Relatives, Family, friends and a host of others.
The event started with the registrar introducing the VC’s entourage, who in turn called on the rep. of the VC to introduce the lecturer of the day. He noted that it was the 66th in his tenure and the 24th in the Faculty of Education. He was born on the 2nd of October, 1949. He became a lecturer at the University of Benin in 1991 and became a professor in 1998. He is blessed with 4 children and 2 grandchildren.
He started his lecture by defining paradigm transition as a stage of moving from one point to another. He noted that hypothetical constructs helps to explain a particular way of doing things and is also an objective way of doing things. He gave the definition of paradigm transition learning using the illustration of people finding it hard to move away from the old ways of doing things to the new ways. He also noted that he has observed 4 categories of paradigm transition stages which includes the concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract and the active experimentation. He enjoined Nigerians to be makers of reality. The event thereafter ended with the Prof being decorated amidst his immediate family.
